Phillip Phillips sues to get out of American Idol Contract






The 11th season winner of American Idol has filed a lawsuit against 19 entertainment, the company which produces the popular television show. The suit claims that the producing company along with its affiliates manipulated him. Among the grievances filed is the allegation that he was forced to perform for Jet Blue (a sponsor of the show) for free. Another claim was made that 19 Entertainment got as much as a 40 percent pay out from any of his endorsements. Phillip's lawyer defended his claim describing his client's agreement with 19 entertainment as "oppressive." A spokesperson representing the idol producer has refuted the allegations, stating that the company acted within its rights and that the company has always carried out its business dealings in Phillip's best interest.  The petition was filed with the California Labour commission on January 22.

Women in South Korea struggle to maintain careers




A lack of reliable and adequate childcare system in South Korea is forcing a lot of women to compromise their careers in order to care for family and children. As a result, the careers of hundreds of thousands of women in South has been compromised in a society which is largely dominated by men. Government data showed that 22.4 percent of married women aged 15-54 quit their jobs last year due to childcare related issues. Adding to the growing problem is the fact that low wages give women even less motivation to re-enter the workforce after a hiatus. According to president Park-Geun-hye, the first woman to lead the nation, a $46 million dollar venture fund would be set up to help future business leaders.

Obama pledges $4 billion investment deal with India







Obama, the first American president to attend India's yearly Republic Day parade, pledged $4 billion dollars in investments and loans to strengthen business partnership between the two countries. The leaders spoke at various events and even recorded a radio program together. Obama then stated that there is much untapped potential within the US-India relationship. Currently, India accounts for 2 percent of US imports, and 1 percent of exports. According to Obama, the U.S. export-import bank will finance $1 billion in exports of Made- In- America Products while the U.S.overseas private Investment Corporation will lend $1 billion dollars to small and mid-sized businesses in rural areas of India.

Nick Canon and Mariah divorce is official






Reports show that Nick Canon officially filed for divorce from Mariah Carey on December 12, 2014. From all indications, it appears that Carey and Canon will be settling their legal disputes amicably and in the most respectful way as possible. Carey will be performing 18 of her number one hits at Caesars in Las Vegas and made a special appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show where she surprised fans with the announcement.


Is Drake's father going to drop an album soon?




Drake's father announced that he will be returning back to the music business. After searching for a female rapper to collaborate with, he decided on rookie rapper Ze Monroe who will be featured on his upcoming song. Drake his famous rapper son was initially slated to be a part of the project but due to a hectic schedule will not be available for studio time with dad. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope it all works out!
